3D printed bridge in Holland

Crossing one of the famous canals in Amsterdam, MX3D and ARUP have completed a robot arc welded a bridge that was displayed at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven in late October.

Pedestrians will cross the stainless steel footbridge at Oudezijds Achterburgwal.  Autodesk, Force Technology, Imperial College London, Lenovo & HBM collaborated to embed sensors in the structure that will measure stress and strain, giving engineers and designers real data to improve the next design.

The structure has won awards for its unique design that incorporates numerous features of the latest engineering and modern construction techniques.
