Australia energised at innovation panel discussion

The Energising Australia innovation panel was held on Wednesday 11 May at Arup’s offices in the Sydney CBD. The event, aimed at University of Sydney alumni and the broader Sydney technology innovation community, was jointly organised by The Warren Centre and the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Engineering and IT.

Moderated by Professor Tony Vassallo, Delta Electricity Chair in Sustainable Energy Development at the University of Sydney, the panellists shared their insights on the current and future energy opportunities for Australia. The future of sustainability, the scope for new kinds of energy storage, and the ways in which government policy is likely to evolve were all key topics discussed by the panellists. The audience offered robust debate and discussion throughout the event.

The event panellists included:

  • Dr Lachlan Blackhall, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Reposit Power
  • David Hind, Chairman, Barefoot Power
  • Dr Susan Pond AM FTSE, Chairman of the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology
  • Professor Joe Dong, Director for the Sydney Energy Internet Research Institute, The University of Sydney

The discussion, introduced by The Warren Centre’s Executive Director Ashley Brinson, was part of The Warren Centre’s Innovation Panel series and the Faculty’s ongoing Technology Innovation series.
