In a recent blog post Virgin CEO Richard Branson made a bold statement that “in 30 years or so we will no longer need to kill any animals and that all meat will either be clean or plant-based, taste the same and also be much healthier for everyone”.
There seems to be a growing concern for the future of food among top influencers with Branson, Bill Gates, Cargill and Kimbal Musk all backing clean-food company Memphis Meats last month with $17 million in seed funding.
Memphis Meats is a Californian start-up aimed at producing real meat from cells, without the need to feed, breed and slaughter live animals, requiring up to 90% fewer greenhouse gas emissions, land and water than the traditional meat producing process.
