The Warren Centre’s Chairman Richard Kell AM has been recognised by the Association of Consulting Structural Engineers (ACSE) as a distinguished NSW based structural engineer, receiving the Gold Medal Award on the 22nd March 2018.
Dick was nominated by the ACSE board, recognised for an outstanding and long-term contribution to the structural engineering profession. The award was presented by Prof Brian Uy, Head of School, School of Civil Engineering at the University of Sydney.
His career commenced in 1960 and successfully progressed to culminate in his becoming Chairman of Cardno and then Executive Director after its listing in 2004. He has appeared frequently in the Engineers Australia Top 100 and was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1998 for services to Engineering, particularly Bridge Engineering and International Affairs.
Dick has led major infrastructure expansions in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Pacific Islands, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi, Indonesia and Vietnam. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering, and an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia. He is currently Chairman of the Warren Centre and serves on the board of DRBF Australia.
The Association of Consulting Structural Engineers New South Wales is a professional body founded in 1933 to serve independent consulting structural engineers and promote the industry. ACSE has a long and proud history of service to its members and the profession, and has contributed to many positive changes within the industry including the formation of Consult Australia. Some of Australia’s most influential structural engineers have been proud members of ACSE.
