Despite an ongoing trade war with the USA, the Made in China 2025 campaign is ramping up efforts for massive acquisition and deployment of robotic technology. The China robot strategy includes the domestic manufacture of robots and the internal deployment of locally-made robots in Chinese factories.
Even foreign firms from non-labour-intensive industries are aligning efforts in high technology to take advantage of rapidly changing attitudes within China towards modern technologies. UK pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca displayed healthcare robots at a recent trade show in Wuxi aiming to capture rising fascination with new digital gadgets to expand product lines to the Chinese market.
The success of TenCent, AliBaba, Didi Chuxing and Baidu have bolstered ‘robot fever’ from DongBei to GuangDong.
