After Volvo’s announcement last week that all of its vehicles will be electric drive by 2019 and India’s commitment last month to go all electric by 2030, France has announced that it will be banning “all petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040”.
This is part of a series of measures that newly elected President Macron has implemented with the goal of becoming a carbon neutral country by 2050.
It will be interesting to see how the dynamic between President Trump and President Macron plays out during their soon-to-be meeting on Bastille Day, where they are sure to discuss this announcement.
