According to the WHO, air pollution causes seven million premature deaths per year, making it the biggest environmental health risk of the modern era.
CityTree, a new mobile solution created by Berlin’s Green City Solutions, removes pollutants from the air, but unlike its name suggests, it is actually not a tree but a culture of moss.
Co-founder of Green City Solutions, Zhengliang Wu said, “Moss cultures have a much larger leaf surface area than any other plant. That means we can capture more pollutants”, claiming CityTree’s effects to be equivalent to a combination of 275 normal urban trees.
