Queensland leads the charge with electric car super highway

A 2000km super highway is proposed to join Cairns and Gold Coast with 18 charging stations along the route in a bid to push electric car usage.

The charge time is expected to be 30 minutes with Queensland Roads Minister Steven Miles proposing charging stations be free for 12 months.

With electric cars only making up 0.1% of Australia’s current automotive market, the lack of charging infrastructure is a major reason cited for low penetration.
