CaseCruncher Alpha, an AI that makes legal decision predictions, and its company recently held a competition which employed 100 of London’s top lawyers in a battle to see if the AI or the human would outperform one another.
Both the humans and the AI were given the basic facts of hundreds of payment protection insurance mis-selling cases and asked to predict whether the Financial Ombudsman would allow a claim. The results are astounding. CaseCruncher Alpha scored an accuracy rate of 86.6% whilst the lawyers scored only 66.3%.
With great debate about whether or not AI and robots will take over humans in certain industries recently occurring, these results may be an indication of just that.
